a is for aucklandA beautifully illustrated alphabet picture book, this is all about Auckland and has landmarks from the entire area.  Al the natural highlights are featured; Rangitoto, the Waitakares, Goat Island, as well as manmade landmarks such as the zoo, the Sky Tower, and the Harbour Bridge.  The book covers a wide geographic and cultural spread, from the Otara markets, Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple, to Te Hana, Auckland’s northernmost town and home to the Te Hana Te Ao Marama cultural centre.

Each letter is accompanied by intricately detailed images of landmarks relating to it.  I really like the diverse iconic locations and how they show the multicultural side of the city.  This book will help you discover some beautiful new locations as well as remember favourite places to visit in Auckland. This book is perfect for overseas family missing home and those living here, both large and small.
