deadly pursuitCelina Davenport is an FBI agent who took down the leader of the San Diego Mafia – Emilio Londano – and destroyed the organization.  Then Time magazine made her famous and she was removed from the Southern California Violent Crime (SCVC) Taskforce and transferred to ADes Moines.  A year later Emilio escapes from prison and comes after Celina for revenge.

Assigned to be Celina’s bodyguard is DEA agent Cooper Harris, leader f the SCVC Taskforce.  He crushed Celina’s heart once, now they have to depend on each other to stay alive.  As Londano targets Celina’s friends and co-workers, she and Cooper battle to outwit him and stay alive.

A love-child of NCIS: LA and Miami Vice, the plot is fast-paced with lots of action, bullets, and fast cars.  There are a few surprises, a heart-breaking loss, and a wild ride to bring a fugitive to justice.  The good guys win of course and the HEA is romantic.  I loved that Celina was a take-no-prisoners heroine and clever in the way she manipulates Londano.

If you’re looking for a romantic suspense with plenty of action, read this book.  I’m looking forward to the next Taskforce book, which will feature Thomas and Ronni from Deadly Pursuit.  It will be released next year if all goes according to plan!
